• Dear Landlord is a free online self-help tool designed for Victorian renters, who have fallen behind on rent to understand their rights and options, and take proactive steps to avoid eviction  

• Tenants Victoria can provide legal help and advice over the phone to renters experiencing family violence. 
• Victoria Legal Aid can provide legal advice to renters over the phone or by webchat. 
• Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service can provide legal help to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for a range of issues, including housing.

For free help with family violence & family law such as separation, intervention orders, and parenting disputes: 

• Women’s Legal Service can provide legal help to women experiencing family violence, separation, and divorce. 
• Djirra’s Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service can provide legal and social work support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, or non-Aboriginal people who have Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children. 
• Intouch Legal can provide legal and social work support to migrant and refugee women with intervention orders, family violence, victims of crime matters, immigration and visa issues. 
• Q+Law can provide legal help to LGBTIQ+ people with tenancy law, family violence and family law. 
• Find your local community legal centre through the Federation of Community Legal Centres. 

For free support with the criminal justice system: 

• The Law and Advocacy Center for Women provides legal and social work support for women who are in or are at risk of entering the criminal legal system. 

• National Debt Helpline can assist with money issues and financial counselling, including support for financial hardship caused by family violence.  
• Centrelink offers a crisis payment for family violence. To access this payment, you need to already be receiving support from Centrelink, as well as meet other criteria listed on Services Australia. 
• Your local housing and homelessness service may be able to pay a few weeks of rent for you, if you have fallen behind. To find your local housing service, call 1800 825 955 (freecall, 24/7). 
• Red Cross offers financial assistance to people on temporary visas experiencing family violence. 
• Mob Strong Debt Helpline can support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples with money issues, including financial hardship caused by family violence.

If you are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness: 

• Call 1800 825 955 (freecall, 24/7) to connect with a housing worker at your closest housing and homelessness service.
